Betsy Bowen, the artist, lives near Lake Superior, where she sees pelicans, wolves, moose, elk, martens, and birds.   She handcuts images into woodblocks, mixes inks,  and prints the images one color at a time onto paper on her manual press.  She  traveled to Africa to learn and teach printmaking.  She  illustrated several entrancing books.
